鷸虻

鷸虻（Rhagionidae）是雙翅目下一個細小的科，其下有21個屬。

描述

鷸虻科是中等或大型的雙翅目，有幼長的身體及像高蹺的節肢。牠們的口器可以刺穿皮膚，很多種鷸虻都是血食性的，其他的則會掠食其他昆蟲。牠們一般都是褐色及黃色的，沒有剛毛。幼蟲亦是掠食性的，很多是居住在陸地上的，一些則是生活在水中的。^[1]

鷸虻科是分類在短角亞目下的虻下目中。Atherix及Vermileo已從鷸虻科中抽出，並分類在流虻科及穴虻科。
