历史

非教派犹太会堂创建于1973年，由雅各布·古贝（Jacob Gubbay）带领的12名男同性恋犹太人创建。他们最初在切尔西的圣使徒堂集会，并每周各自携带祈祷材料。1978年，他们开始在西村的贝修恩街（Bethune Street）57号威斯特贝斯艺术家社区租用空间，作为办公室、希伯来语学校和宗教场所使用。当时的宗教场所可以容纳300人，用作礼拜六早晨的祈祷场所。而礼拜五晚上的祈祷则仍然在教堂举行。此外犹太会堂还租用贾维茨会议中心作为赎罪日祈祷场所，有超过4,000人参加[7]。2012年，资深拉比沙龙·克莱因鲍姆（英语：Sharon Kleinbaum）庆祝她为非教派犹太会堂服务达12年[8][9]。

新建筑

在经过16年的寻找后，非教派犹太会堂在2011年6月购买了位于曼哈顿中城的一大片空间。这一场所地处第六大道和第七大道之间的西30号街130号的商业大厦内[10][11]。非教派犹太会堂所在的商业大厦名为SJM大厦，由著名建筑家卡斯·吉尔伯特（英语：Cass Gilbert）设计设计，修建于1927年至1928年期间，是纽约历史地标之一[12]。新建筑在2013年动工；在2016年竣工，并在同年4月3日举办“奉献我们的新家”庆祝活动[13]。
