CHO-K1CHO cell clone K1)是源自成年中国仓鼠卵巢的二倍体上皮细胞系,并且是CHO细胞(源自中国仓鼠卵巢深入活体组织切片)衍生的野生型亚克隆。目前已知利用甲磺酸乙酯诱变CHO-K1细胞后,会产生缺乏二氢叶酸还原酶(DHFR)活性的CHO-DXB11细胞[1] 。此外,源自CHO-K1细胞的细胞系的基因组可能曾有着大规模的染色体重新排列,甚至已知它的克隆群体也可以分化为异质亚族群(heterogeneous subpopulations)[2][3]

据报导,CHO-K1细胞的染色体计数各有不同[4],可能是因为它的基因组不稳定。有研究就在CHO-K1细胞中发现了21条染色体[5],并且在在CHO-K1细胞的基因组中,鉴定出与大多数人类硫酸乙酰肝素葡糖胺O-磺基转移酶(human heparan sulfate glucosamine O-sulfotransferases)的同源物[5],鉴定结果与以前的研究[6][7]一致。
