隱尾蠊屬

隱尾蠊屬(Cryptocercus)是網翅總目下的一屬及隱尾蠊科下的唯一成員[1]。此屬為亞社會性,若蟲需要親代大量的照顧。隱尾蠊屬的腸胃中生有和食木性白蟻相同的木質消化共生菌,此點被視為兩者有著極為接近關係的證據,也就是說白蟻基本上是從社會性蟑螂演化而來[2]。

隱尾蠊屬能在北美洲和亞洲被發現,目前共有12個已知物種[3]。
隱尾蠊屬擁有許多和白蟻相同的特徵。種系發生學研究顯示本屬與白蟻的關係比起其他的蜚蠊還要更加密切[4],隱尾蠊屬為白蟻領科的姊妹群。
