远端转移
远端转移(英语:Metastasis)也称作恶性转移,是指肿瘤细胞从原始发生的部位借由侵入循环系统,转移到身体其他部位继续生长的过程。通常良性肿瘤不会产生远端转移,而发生转移的病患预后情形都非常差。也因为癌细胞转移到身体各部位,癌症治疗上变得更为困难,几乎不可能使用外科手术切除根治,多半只能用大范围循环全身的放射治疗或化疗等手段来抑制已转移的癌细胞继续扩散生长。事实上,癌症病患的死亡常是在发生远端转移之后,由于癌细胞转移到身体各重要器官持续生长,影响身体正常功能而导致死亡。所以一般远端转移的发生与否,常被视作癌症患者病程的严重程度及治疗效果的指标。[1][2]
