English: A group of British "A" class submarines. This was the Royal Navy's first class of British-designed submarines. They were an improvement on the US Plunger class. Thirteen submarines of this class were built by Vickers at Barrow-in-Furness between 1902 and 1905. The last was broken up in 1920. Old postcard from this collection.
Polski: Jednostki typu "A" (British 'A' class submarines) były pierwszymi okrętami podwodnymi zaprojektowanymi i zbudowanymi w Wielkiej Brytanii. Ich rozwiązania techniczne oparto na amerykańskich okrętach typu HOLLAND (US Plunger-Class) służącymi w Royal Navy od 1901 roku. Wszystkie okręty typu A, a było ich razem trzynaście, powstały w stoczni Vickers (Barrow-in-Furness) w latach 1902-1905. |
