早年生活

约书亚·奥尼尔·杰克逊出生於加州聖地牙哥郡，母親服務於美國海軍。在傑克森八個月大的時候，他的母親為了能居住在親戚附近，決定搬入密西根州。 。在美國中學八年級時，傑克森因為對籃球的熱愛影響到了課業，父母因而決定讓其進入新學校再讀一次八年級。在高中時期，他首先進入了底特律的聯盟大學預備學校就讀一二年級，而後進入了納帕的賈斯丁西娜中學就讀。
